5 Truths about Ibiza

5 Truths about Ibiza
View of Dalt Vila from the Marina

Ibiza surprised us. It's got a reputation as the ultimate party island—but there’s so much more to it. Here are five things we discovered that might just change how you think about this Mediterranean gem.

1. It’s beyond Partying

Sure, Ibiza is a clubbing mecca—but it’s also a haven for calm, charm, and stunning natural beauty. You can enjoy more having a run along the beach, sipping sangria by the sea, and exploring the medieval town than being anywhere near a dance floor. If you’re not into the nightlife scene (or just too early for the season to have started), that’s totally okay—Ibiza has a whole other vibe waiting for you.

2. You Can Eat Really Well

Ibiza seriously brought its A-game when it came to food. Whether you're into fresh seafood, Mediterranean fusion, or grilled perfection, you'll find it here. A few of our standout spots:

  • Cevitxef Ibiza – inventive Peruvian-Japanese ceviche in a fun, stylish setting with a cozy terrace (link)
  • La Oliva – romantic Mediterranean dining in the heart of Dalt Vila (link)
  • Bona Brasa – for that perfect grilled meat or fish fix (link)
  • Es Boldado – stunning seafood and paella with a breath-taking view of Es Vedrà (link)
  • Chiringuito Cala Escondido – relaxed beachside bar for sunset and aperitivo vibes. Passionfruit Mojito: highly recommended! (link)

We weren’t expecting to have a foodie trip, but Ibiza delivered.

3. The Medieval City of Dalt Vila Is a Gem

Dalt Vila, the fortified old town of Ibiza, totally charmed us. Winding cobblestone streets, whitewashed walls, and panoramic views from the top—it's one of those places where you want to get a little lost. You can walk on the city walls all around the town. Free walking tours are also available throughout the week. Bring comfy shoes and a camera.

4. The Sunsets Are Worth Chasing

On every trip, we love to find the best sunsets—so also in Ibiza. They’re a full-on experience here. Locals and travelers alike gather at beaches, bars, and cliffs just to watch the show on the east-side of the island. Cala Escondida and Cala d'Hort were two of our favorites, while also the Mirador Es Vedra is highly recommended. The colors are unreal.

5. Skip Sant Antoni (Unless You’re 18)

We gave Sant Antoni a shot… and it just wasn’t for us. Loud, a bit chaotic, and lacking the charm we found elsewhere on the island. If your idea of a vacation includes peace, good food, and beautiful settings, you're better off skipping this one.

Our Ibiza Takeaway

Ibiza turned out to be an island full of surprises—beautiful landscapes, incredible food, and unforgettable sunsets. Whether you're wandering through the medieval streets of Dalt Vila, enjoying a relaxed meal by the sea, or simply soaking in the coastal views, there's a special kind of magic here. If you're looking for a place that offers both vibrant energy and peaceful escapes, Ibiza might just be the perfect destination.
